CITIES IN CHINA
THE NEXT GENERATION OF URBAN RESEARCH

June 14-15, 2002
Urban China Research Network
University at Albany

The Urban China Research Network hosted "Cities in China: The Next Generation of Urban Research" at the University at Albany on June 14 and 15, 2002. The conference featured the research of recipients of the first two rounds of the Urban China Research Network's small grant program (2000-2001).

The conference was organized to provide the small grant recipients, all of whom are either graduate students or junior faculty, with the opportunity to discuss their work with their peers and with senior scholars in their fields. Each paper was commented on by a UCRN international advisory board member with a research specialty close to that of the grantee. Papers were grouped into panels focusing on urban-rural migration, urban reform, urban inequality, urban neighborhoods and community organizations, and urban transformations.
