MIDWEST CONFERENCE ON ASIAN AFFAIRS (MCAA): An Affiliate of the Association for Asian Studies, Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio)
September 27-29, 2002.
The East Asian Studies Program at Wittenberg University will host the 51st Annual Meeting of the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs on September2 7, 28, and 29, 2002 on the Wittenberg University campus. The MCAA seeks to encourage scholarly interchange between Asianists located in the Midwest and promote Asian studies both at the university and the secondary and primary levels.
Proposals are solicited for panels, roundtables, and individual papers in all fields dealing with East, South, and Southeast Asia, the Asian Diaspora, and topical and comparative panels. Faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students, as well as independent Asianists, are encouraged to participate and attend.
Of special interest ...Undergraduate Panels: A special feature of this meeting will be undergraduate panels. Wittenberg is an undergraduate institution; we welcome participation by students and solicit papers for these panels. High Tech Venues Sessions will be held in Hollenbeck Hall, a new Building with advanced technology classrooms (installed data/video projectors, instructor's station with VCR/DVD, and networked computer with Windows 2000 and web access). Panelists are encouraged to make use of this equipment.
Wittenberg University is in Springfield, a city of 65,000 in southwestern Ohio located between Columbus and Dayton on I70, near I75. Lodging will be at the Springfield Inn in downtown Springfield.
