Comments: RACIAL SEGREGATION HAS A NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE IMPACT ON BLACKS AND WHITES.
POSITIVE: SEGREGATION FORCES BLACKS TO WORK AND LIVE IN THERE COMMUNITIES WITH LITTILE TO NO HELP FROM WHITES. GIVEING BLACKS THE INDEPINDENT IMPOWERMENT THEY NEED TO START MAKEING OUR NEIGHBORHOODS JUST AS SAFE AND PRODUCTIVE AS THE SUBURBS.
NEGATIVE: BLACKS AND WHITES WILL HAVE LIMITED COMMUNICATIONS!

Comments: Segregation Hurts everybody. Yes it hurts "blacks." Though it also hurts "whites, yellows, reds," etc… Families, co-workers and whatever else you can name are also affective.
Metaphorically speaking, sibling rivalry goes way beyond the nuclear family. Though to gnaw at natural parameters is not necessarily the correct approach in "getting along." Of course if someone wants their own way, then "start chewing." But don’t expect not to salivate.

Comments: There has always been some type of stigma that where there is a large congregation of blacks, there are higher risks. Blacks pay a higher price for being segregated: lower paying jobs, poor education, higher insurance premiums, lack of exposure to other facets of life, housing, city services and lack of businesses.
Heavily black populated areas basically get "leftovers." When you live in Detroit, you have to travel a country mile to get some of the finer things in life. In a predominantly white area, everything is at your fingertips. Look at the areas of I-96 & Novi Road, Wayne and Warren Roads, Auburn Hills, Troy, Sterling Heights, etc., these areas are flooded with a plethora of businesses. These areas have an abundance of restaurants, department and specialty stores, coffeehouses, entertainment venues and various events taking place.
In Detroit, you can not find a mall, movie theater, sports bar, grocery store, restaurant, golf course or a place to hang out and have fun all in the same vicinity. There is no reason for someone from the suburbs to travel to Detroit because it doesn't have as much to offer and this not only hurts the city of Detroit, but its residents, too.
We (all races) need to learn how to live and communicate with people outside our race. So much can be benefited from being with people not like you and me.

Comments: When you live only with one group you lack knowledge of others. Since most of us must shop, eat out, work and spend leisure time around other races its good to understand who they are. A setting to learn of others is in your own neighborhood. This is where people become comfortable enough with each other to be able to ask questions that otherwise one would not feel comfortable in asking for fear of insulting.

Comments: The main reason segregation has hurt Black people, is all the stores and restaurants have moved to where Whites are living. Causing Black people to go into the suburbs in search of a place to eat and places to shop .While driving through those locations you have to be wary of "D W B" . If you dont wont to live around me thats O.K. But at least let me have the same things in my city (Detroit) as you have in the suburbs .
Also now the Arabic people know now how it feels to be watched and scorned ,To them I say "Welcome to America". Any way when they come into this country they all check White in the race box.

Comments: Blacks in Detroit need to be exposed to the way the world realy is. Living in an all black community denies one the oppertunity of interacting, and understanding people of different cultures and backgrounds. I grew up in southfield during the 80s and it was about 60% white 40% black. When I left and went to grandvalley state university it was 90%white and 10% black. Because I was brought up in a mixed environment I had no problems adjusting and making friends, however my intercity detroit friends had problems making the adjustment. Point being intergration can only help blacks.

Comments: Integration is wrong, as it will ultimately lead to miscegenation, which destroys ALL Races.
Ninety-two percent of the worlds population is non-White. That means Whites comprise only 8% of the worlds population, and of this, only 2% are women of child bearing age. WE are the true endangered species!

Comments: The thing that hurts blacks is the attitude that they should be handed everything. I have the same as any black, and I earned it. Nothing handed to me. When you have people like Sharpton who cry race at every any any thing that happens. Sounds like he preaches hate - and gets more coverage than the KKK

Comments: The most harmful kind of segregation is between parents and children. It takes two people to raise children to be able to raise cildren to function well. There is simply two many childrn born out of wedlock in some communities for any shuffling of people around would help. Of corse there circumstances forced on people,however, the facxt is a lot of children are brought into the world with out two parents to raise them.

Comments: I think segregation is a natural thing where like people with same backgrounds seem to stick togeather, as you got more in common with someone of your own race than another race. The Mexicans are really segregating themselfs by not, or plum refuseing to learn English, and they will be limeted to Mexican neighborhoods and working low-pay jobs by not joining in with the rest of the nation. The blacks are segregated I think because the high crime area where they live make the whites flee away, if blacks move to white areas, the whites fear crime, and they flee out to another area, it's a big cycle.

Comments: I have lived long enough to have seen it all. The largest lesson that I have learned is that. You really don't have any control over where someone moves or lives. Only your own. Therefore whereever you land in life, and there is obviously going to be other people living with you, whether you accept it or not. It is up to you, the individual to take responsibility for your surroundings.
Economics has nothing to do with cleanliness. It costs nothing to pick up trash, clean windows, respect fellow citizens, smile, and show goodwill. I have seen it in both black and white neighborhoods. Educated Detroit has emaculate neighborhoods. Its the people who don't care about the way they live that pulls the rest of the blacks down. I have also seen white slums in suburbia that no one talks about. I have seen African Americans in beautiful half-million dollar homes striving just like everyone else for civility and peace, and just getting along . I've seen brand new integrated subdivisions, where if you drive through, you wonder if you're still in Michigan, because there are many races living and working together.
So you see, you can't paint a broad picture and catagorize people. If you do your part to make this world a better place, you won't have to worry about anyone else, it will fall into place. All Creeds and Colors for the good of mankind.

Comments: I think segragation hurts blacks because it continues to feed the perception that all blacks are alike. It allows the inferior racist mentality to contiue to "pre" judge.
Blacks have commonalities just like whites have commanalities amongst their own and being grouped with those, in segragation, that you have similarities with is not a problem. But, we are a diverse sect of people just as all other racial groups have sects within that are different than other sects and being refused that understanding and generally categorized by "other than blacks" is what hurts blacks most.

Comments: Crime stats & poverty are the main reasons segregation hurts blacks more than any other race. We must also consider someone's great-great grandpa from 1892. Here's a guy that ruined a whole family tree of four generations when he practiced, preached & plotted segregation in front of his 19th century children.
Implanting adverse racial thoughts in offspring ordinarily means that it stays mentally implanted... usually forever! This means integration & diversity never even got a breath-of-chance in past homes of thousands of grandpa-types who inadvertently have passed it on from generation to generation.

Comments: Segregation always hurts blacks because the whites and a few affluent blacks move to the greener pastures, leaving poor blacks behind. The poor blacks are forced to contend with a lousy school system, high crime rate, lack of lobs and a city that is economically strapped to deal with those problems.
