Metropolitan Area Immigration and Language Spoken at Home Rankings
On the following pages, we provide information for immigration and language spoken at home for all 331 metro areas in the 2000 Census. For every urban area, the foreign-born population is broken down further based on the recency of immigration. The recency of immigration measures will allow the user to determine the proportion of the immigrants in a given metro area that are relative newcomers (i.e., moved to US in the last five years), and how many have been in the US for 10 years or more. Similarly, the table includes a measure of people who speak a language other than English at home.
